The 14th CNEX Chinese Documentary Pitching Forum held its awards ceremony on Sep 24th. A total of 18 CCDF proposals and 8 IFG proposals competed for 16 awards.
The projects from Taiwan performed exceptionally well this year. The director, HSU Ming-chun, and producer, Diana Chiawen LEE, of “Memories Frozen in Time” took home the grand prize provided by the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA), the “TCCF Award,” worth $30,000, serving as the initial funding for pre-production. HUANG Ling-hwa, director, and CHEN Yu-jui, producer, of “The White Waters,” as well as SU Yi-hui, director, and Wang I-chan, producer, of “Da Ra Song,” received awards from the Doc Edge Award from New Zealand, earning them the opportunity to pitch at the Doc Edge. The directors Claire SHIH and Ray CHAN’s “Do Pigeons Want to Go Home?” received Special Prize – Local Theme, amounting to $2,000 USD.

“Special Prize – Local Theme” for “Do Pigeons Want to Go Home”, directed by Claire SHIH and produced Ray CHAN.
Director Yang Fan’s “Chunyu: A Dearth Foretold” won a total of four awards, including the bilibili x CCDF Best Pitch Award worth five thousand US dollars, the Vision du Réel Award, the Fresh Pitch Award, and the IDA Award, making it the biggest winner of this edition.
The pitch from Hong Kong, “The Way We Were,” also received the “TCCF Award” provided by TAICCA, valued at thirty thousand US dollars. “The Whisper of Sunlight” was awarded the Best Potential on Impact Making Second Prize, worth six thousand US dollars.

The Best Pitch Award, sponsored by CNEX and valued at five thousand US dollars, was awarded to the Chinese proposal “Whispers in May,” which also received the Visions du Réel Award. And the Best International Potential Award, also sponsored by CNEX and valued at five thousand US dollars, was won by “Aunty Untitled Film”, a story about a group of Chinese women in their 70s living in Los Angeles who pursue their dance dreams. This proposal also received the AIDC award from Australia.
