The 15th CNEX Chinese Documentary Forum successfully concluded on September 29, with a grand award ceremony. After three days of pitching competitions, forums, and lectures, a total of 20 proposals competed for 19 awards.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Taiwanese projects excelled at this year\u2019s forum. Director Paul CHU, along with producers Charlie CHEN and Terris KO, won the “TCCF Award” presented by Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) for their proposal The Martial Artist<\/em>. Another Taiwanese proposal, Echoes from Beyond,<\/em> directed by LEE Kang-ling and HSU Huai-min and produced by Lynn CHEN, received a cash award sponsored by the PTS Taiwanese Channel for the first time, with a total prize of NTD 90,000. The proposal Nomads of the Island<\/em>, a co-production between Hong Kong and Taiwan directed by Hong Kong director Frankie SIN and produced by veteran documentary producers HUANG Hui-chen and Peter YAM, won a NTD 100,000 cash prize, sponsored for the first time by KOKO Entertainment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

This year\u2019s forum introduced the “Ask Jean Anything Award,” personally established by renowned Chinese-American documentary editor Jean Tsien. Ms. Tsien is a member of the American Cinema Editors (ACE) and a key member of the documentary branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The winning project team will have the opportunity to engage in a one-on-one in-depth discussion with Ms. Tsien. The award was ultimately won by director Zheng Qingyue and producers Yao Lu and Jiang Ruonan for their project Lady Lion<\/em>. Lady Lion<\/em> also received the “IFG Best Impact Potential Second Prize”, with a total cash prize of USD 6,000.<\/div>\n

The Myth of Monsters<\/em> won the “Sheffield Doc\/Fest Award”, the “Bilibili x CCDF Best Pitch Award” (totaling USD 5,000), and “IFG Best Impact Potential First Prize” (totaling USD 7,000). Meanwhile, Me, My Mom’s Favorite Monkey<\/em> received a special award generously provided by veteran Hong Kong filmmaker Edmund Cheung (totaling USD 1,000) and won the “IFG Best Impact Potential Second Prize” (totaling USD 5,000).
